Below are the Network Partners for Catawba County Parenting Network.


The Catawba County Parenting Network is a collaboration with more than forty different agencies which provide some type of parenting opportunity. Because of this partnership, families can call one phone number and be linked with the parenting program that best suits their individual needs. By providing participant referrals, program facilities and support to CCPN, a network of local healthcare, child and parent development agencies help guarantee Catawba County parents have access to parenting opportunities that fit their individual needs. The current agencies are comprised of the following organizations:

 

o        Active Parenting Programs – 1,2,3,4 Parents, Active Parenting Now and Active Christian Parenting.

o        Parent to Parent Program – A collaborative effort with Council on Adolescents.

o        Strengthening Program – Intensive parent training program for parents of children ages 3-18.

o        Positive Discipline Workshop

o        Enhancing Relationships Workshop

o        ADD/ADHD Parent Support Group - For parents whose children have been diagnosed with or are
thought to have ADD/ADHD.

o        Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Group - For grandparents who are primary caregivers
for their grandchildren.

o        Parents Anonymous® Support Group - For parents and children of all ages. Groups meet weekly.
Topics for meetings are parent-driven.

o       The Dad's League - For fathers of children of all ages.

o       Special Families Support Group - For parents of children with special needs.

AIDS Leadership Foothills-area Alliance
  provides free testing, counseling, education programs, referrals to medical, dental and mental health professionals, assistance with medications, limited financial assistance, food pantry and grocery vouchers.

·         Mental Health Partners:

o        Local Managing Entity (LME)

o        Catawba Valley Behavioral Healthcare – Non-profit NPO; will provide counseling services

·         Catawba County Department of Social Services:

o        Nurturing® Program – Intensive parenting program applicable for court-ordered families.

o        Hilltop Education and Resources Together (H.E.A.R.T.) – Family activity center providing parenting resources for Hilltop Apartment residents in Longview, NC.

o        Family Builders of Catawba Valley – Adoption placement, counseling and support service.

Catawba County Health Department:

o        Child Services Coordination – Case management program for high-risk children.

o        Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC Program) – Special supplemental nutrition program
for women, infants and children.

·         Catawba County Partnership for Children:

o        Smart Start agency, which funds programs and provides services for families of children ages 0-5.

o        Early Childhood Support Team – Education specialists, behavior specialists and nurses working
with childcare providers and teachers for children ages 0-5.

·         Catawba County & Hickory City Library Systems:

·         Library resources and services for parents and children, including weekly story programs, computer workshops and summer reading programs.

·         Catawba County, Hickory, Newton-Conover Schools:

·          Parents as Teachers – Home visitation program focusing on child development and parenting.  A
home-school community partnership funded by Smart Start.

·         Catawba Valley Medical Center:

o        Health First Center – Childbirth education programs and positive parenting programs for all
childbearing families.

o        Catawba County Safe Kids Coalition – An organization, which provides information and
demonstrations, related to safety issues for children.

·         Centro Latino:

·            A resource center where Latino families can access childcare, prenatal health care and other
resources in Catawba County.

·         Children’s Advocacy Center of Catawba County:

·      ·  Child-centered facility providing medical, clinical and support services to child victims and their
 non-offending family members.

Children's Neurotherapy Services:
  We are a private outpatient clinic that provides therapy services to children and their families in the clinic setting as well as in the home environments. We work with children with motor, emotional, social, and cognitive impairments to improve their functional independence. We specialize in sensory integrative intervention which often benefits children with behavioral problems, autism, and attentional difficulties.

·         Children’s Resource Center:

·      ·    A childcare and parenting education resource and referral agency that is Smart Start funded.

The Conflict Resolution Center:
  Our agency provides mediation services and educational services to the citizens of Catawba, Burke, and Caldwell Counties.

·         Council on Adolescents of Catawba County:

·      ·    Agency promoting the well-being of and prevention of at-risk behavior among adolescents through
education, community awareness and advocacy.

·          Children’s Developmental Services Agency:

·      ·     Agency providing in-depth development evaluations of children ages 0 to 5.

The Cognitive Connection:
First Offender Program-Juvenile Offenders experimenting with drugs/alcohol or who are at high risk of using drugs/alcohol and their parents or guardians.
Cooperative Christian Ministry:
  Faith Community Task Force On Poverty
Dept. Of Juvenile Justice:
  Provides all court related services to youth from intake to supervision.
Exodus Homes:
  Family Preservation/Family Reunification for Exodus Homes residents, parenting classes open to the public.

·         Family Guidance Center:

·      ·   A multi-services agency providing individual and family counseling, domestic violence services and consumer credit counseling.

Family Net:
  Assessment, outpatient therapy, and psychological evaluation for children and adolescents; Psychiatric evaluation and medication management and Case Management for children, adolescents, and their families; School social work services; Smart Start-Early Childhood Support Team; Adolescents and Children in Treatment Program (ACT), a children's day treatment program; Adolescent substance abuse services; Adolescent Sexual Abuse Intervention Program (SAIP); Mental health services for Juvenile Court-involved youth;

·         Frye Regional Medical Center:

·      ·   Perinatal Education Programs – Programs which offer a comprehensive approach to perinatal
education and care during pregnancy and afterwards.

·         Guardian ad Litem:

·      ·    Agency that provides courts advocates for abused and neglected children.

Habitat For Humanity:
  Habitat for Humanity helps lower income families who are in need of decent affordable housing have an opportunity to own a home of their own. Home ownership helps provide a more stable and healthy home environment for families.

·         Head Start (Eastern Catawba Cooperative Christian Ministry):

·      ·   Preschool program for children from low-income families.

Marriage & Family Therapy Services:
  Counseling, play therapy, family therapy, clinical hypnosis. Specializing in relationship and family problems, trauma recovery, sexual abuse, communication. Empowering families, couples and individuals to move beyond surviving… to thriving.

·         Pregnancy Care Center of Catawba Valley:

·      ·   Support program for pregnant women and their families.

·         Rape Crisis Center:

·      ·   24-hour crisis support to anyone affected by rape or sexual assault.

Tyndall Center at Sipe's Orchard Home, Inc.:
Tyndall Center at Sipe's Orchard Home is a full day, day treatment program for preschoolers age three to five who are experiencing behavioral or emotional difficulties.

·         Women’s Resource Center:

Agency providing services and support programs for women of Catawba Valley.
YMCA Of Catawba County:
We provide child care (infant - preschool/afterschool).

The Catawba County Parenting Network is affiliated with Catawba County Schools, Hickory City Schools, Newton Conover Schools, Catawba Valley Community College and Catawba Valley Medical Center.

Created in 1999, the Catawba County Parenting Network is primarily funded by the Catawba County Partnership for Children (Smart Start) and is a program of Catawba County Schools. The Network works with families in Catawba County Schools, Newton-Conover Schools and Hickory Public Schools. Additional funding for the Network is provided by the Beaver Family Foundation, Catawba County United Way, Catawba Valley Medical Center, The Department of Juvenile Justice, The Duke Endowment, More At Four Pre-Kindergarten Program and The Unifour Foundation, Inc.
