Parenting is one of the toughest jobs around; it comes with very long hours and very little training! While the rewards can be great, the process of nurturing, guiding and teaching a child can be quite a challenge.

Since 1999, the Catawba County Parenting Network has helped hundreds of families smooth out the often bumpy road of parenting. By equipping parents with information, supporting them with fellowship opportunities, and connecting them with other area resources, the Parenting Network can truly make a world of difference.

You will find the Parenting Network to be a welcoming and friendly environment where parents can find resource materials and participate in a parenting inventory – a customized plan designed to meet the individual needs of your family and equip you with the tools you need to
be an effective parent.

The resources for families in Catawba County are numerous, but parents may not know what they are or how to access them. The Parent Resource Coordinator at the Network can help!  In addition to helping you find a parenting program or support group, the Parent Resource Coordinator can also connect you with such services as daycare referral, developmental evaluation, conflict resolution, school system resources and much, much more! All of my life I had watched my own parents struggle to raise four children because they didn’t have the proper tools or understanding of what it takes to parent correctly. I knew what mistakes my parents had made, but did not know how not to repeat those mistakes with my own child. Therefore, I sought help from the Catawba County Parenting Network when I found out I was going to be a parent. Through parenting classes, I learned how to nurture my child, strengthen her and discipline her in a positive way without destroying her self-esteem. Today, she is a kind and well-behaved child who loves life and herself. I have no doubt that the parenting tools learned through the instruction of the Parenting Network have played a huge role in this outcome. I will be forever grateful to the Parenting Network for giving me the tools to be the kind of parent that I wanted to be – the kind of parent that I wish I could have had when I was a child.
